  1. It's interesting to see all the different ways papers add this feature to their websites. Overall, I believe people like looking at what other people think is interesting. Most people go to news sites to get the news and want to know what everybody else is thinking and what they're looking at so they too are informed. This feature allows them to do this. Back to my point earlier, the only negative thing about this is that fact the industry doesn't have standard. Each site is different and sometimes viewers try to find this but cannot. It can frustrate viewers away to other sites that have the 'Most Popular' clearly on the first page. Other than that, I can see this feature being used for many many years.

  2. The fact of having this feature is that it helps you know what everyone is keeping up with. My favorite concept of this setup is the way CNN Digital has it. They call it NewsPulse and the stories listed under there have a red bar by them and grow as the story becomes more popular. I am a visual person and that would stand out to me. The idea of the news companies setting this up is smart.

  3. I find this interesting because the first thing I jump to on news websites is the "most viewed" or "most popular" section, solely because there has to be some relevance in a story that everyone is viewing. I think the "news pulse" way is interesting. I like how the red bar expands with the reader expansion and I think thats clever.

  4. I can relate to this article because when I browse websites or anything news-related I tend to look for headlines like these. It helps me sort through the information and news that would be most interesting and prevalent to my life. I figure that if the majority of the people are reading these specific articles then it's worth my time to read them as well. I think "most viewed" is the biggest target for me. I agree with the statement that "most popular" is too vague and doesn't really give any insight as to what aspect it's popular in.

  5. This is an interesting article because it focuses on the headlines seen on websites. Headlines are what grab the readers attention and figure out what the story is about. Just by reading a headline, the reader can decide whether or not it is a story that will capture their attention. I found this article to be insightful and it helped me to realize how important it is to have a captivating headline.

  6. I found this article to be extremely interesting because I find myself doing the same thing when I surf the web. Her article was good especially how she did her research and went further and listed tips for writers. She highlighted a variety of websites and how they share their information which was a great way of showing different angles to the reader. This article shows how much people tend to be followers especially how much people want to do what is cool like looking at certain websites.

  7. I personally like the feature CNN digital uses to show what stories are gaining the most prevalence. If I were reading a story on a website, I would definitely be one of those people who look to see what everyone else is reading. People tend to read what stands out most to them and I think that's the goal of the 'Most Popular' features.

  8. Personally I believe that the top views is a nice feature for both the casual reader as well as news junkies because it offers a fast way of viewing trending events. For the casual reader it allows them to view what is the most important to the majority of visitors on the site. For the news junkies it offers a sneak peak of trending topics so a taste of events happening that day.
